Working Your Event Sponsorship

48% of event visitors would support sponsors

A simple question asked through our recent event visitor survey (May 2020) indicated that 48% of people would look at sponsors more favourably after being exposed to their products and services at events. A further 45% said maybe!

That sort of response is a good indicator for sponsors looking to use events as a way to build brand and sales. Getting involved though is more than just putting your banner up!

Events are no longer a few days experience where things happen on the day. Most are in the marketplace for twelve months of the year with an online presence providing an extensive list of activations. Think of your own marketing and the many opportunities which can be exploited before the event even starts.

  • Awareness is created through naming or presentation rights, event features, company activations, general marketing.

  • Association with the event can pre-dispose people to your company.

  • Branding can expose your company through broad media, online media, social media, print media.

  • Online presence builds your digital exposure with links to attract clients.

The face-to-face opportunity your onsite profile generates will benefit through your integrated participation.

  • Work with the organisers to develop and sponsor a great activation.

  • Use ticket give-aways for potential clients to attend the event and visit your stand.

  • Create a lead generation incentive for boosting long term sales and loyalty.

  • Is hospitality an option?

  • Are there any onsite presentations which can boost your profile?

Investment in sponsorship should take in a range of issues for success.

  • How do you place the sponsorship within your current marketing plan?

  • What are the expected returns on investment – is it more than just immediate sales?

  • What additional budget will you need to exploit the investment?

  • Ensure the demographic works for you.

  • How can you develop research around your involvement?
